Weathervanes

The first workshop of the 2019-2020 season for the Strasburg Heritage Society will be held Sunday October 27th 2019. Fred Eberly will teach a workshop on how to make a weathervane out of sheet copper. The workshop will be held at 28 East Main Street, Strasburg, from 1-5 pm.

Participants will have the choice of making of an angel, horse, dove, or fish. Plus, student will get enough copper to do an additional hanging ornament. Participants are asked to bring a small ball peen hammer. All other necessary tools and material will be supplied.

Fred first discovered his love of blacksmithing at Millersville University over 40 years ago and has a B.S.in Industrial Arts Education and a M.Ed. in Technology Education. For 35 years he taught Technology Education at Governor Mifflin High School. Fred has demonstrated blacksmithing at Landis Valley, the Ephrata Cloister, and Historic Schaefferstown.

Cost for the workshop will be $55 for Heritage Society Members and $65 for non-members, which includes a non-refundable registration fee of $25 for members and $35 for non-members. The workshop will be limited to eight participants.
