Work day status update: On schedule as planned.
The plan for the day:
We going to try for a productive work day this Saturday June 27, rain or shine. But the forecast currently calls for rain. Please check here for up to the minute adjustments to the plan. Volunteer Bill Geil will provide pizza for lunch! (Thanks Bill!)
Here are the jobs that we have in the queue for June 27:
- Put our heads together to talk about next steps - what is our vision for the property and what steps can we take to move forward? (rain or shine, 1st activity).
- Remove shelving and expose the interior of the east wall structure (rain or shine).
- Install a new latch for the barn west door.
- Relocate bricks & such from the barn west side to north side.
- Prune the bushes at the northeast corner of the property.
- Permanently install rain downspout extensions by burying them underground.
- We’re open to other jobs that might be suggested.
Please bring tools that could be useful for these jobs.
Overview:
Come and pitch in to spruce up the Strasburg Heritage Society’s Shroy House, barn, and grounds, to make our place something that we can be proud of! We ask the volunteers to suggest projects and solutions, and to help us to prioritize the projects that we work on next. This is a great opportunity to meet people and learn from them. It’s a chance to feel the satisfaction of being part of a group that is accomplishing something worthwhile. We’ll put the old saying into practice: “Many hands make light work!”
We hold Volunteer Work Days on every 2nd and 4th Saturday running through September.
